VirtueTank LLC ("Datestiny," "we," "us," or "our") operates the Datestiny mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App.

By using Datestiny, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

  • Account Information: Phone number (used for authentication via SMS verification), email address, first name, date of birth, and gender.
  • Profile Information: Photos, height, ethnicity, interests, lifestyle preferences (drinking, smoking, exercise, diet), religious and political views, education, job title, languages spoken, and pet ownership.
  • Matching Preferences: Age range, distance, gender preferences, relationship goals, partner preferences (values, lifestyle, and "three Bs" — brains, brand, body).
  • Green Flags & Red Flags: Qualities you value and dealbreakers in potential partners.
  • Communications: Messages you send through the App, including conversations with your AI Coach and messages with other users.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Device Information: Device type, operating system, unique device identifiers, and push notification tokens.
  • Usage Data: App interactions, feature usage, and crash reports (via Firebase Crashlytics).
  • Analytics Data: Anonymous usage analytics (via Firebase Analytics) to improve the App experience.

2.3 Information from Third Parties

  • Authentication Providers: If you link your Google or Apple account, we receive your name and email from those services.
  • Subscription Status: Our subscription provider (RevenueCat) tells us whether your Datestiny Pro subscription is active, when it was purchased, and when it renews. We do not receive your payment-card details — those are handled exclusively by Apple. Apple may share aggregated, anonymized purchase metrics with us.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Matchmaking: Our AI-powered system analyzes your profile, preferences, and interaction patterns to suggest compatible matches.
  • AI Coach: Your profile data and conversation history are used by our AI Coach (powered by Google Gemini) to provide personalized matchmaking guidance.
  • Communication: To facilitate messaging between matched users.
  • Safety: Our AI Safety Agent evaluates matches and conversations for potential safety concerns.
  • Notifications: To send push notifications about new matches, messages, and app updates.
  • Improvement: To analyze usage patterns and improve our matching algorithms and user experience.
  • Support: To respond to your requests and provide customer service.

4. AI and Automated Processing

Datestiny uses artificial intelligence extensively in its matchmaking process:

  • A multi-agent AI system evaluates compatibility across dimensions including values alignment, conversation potential, and safety.
  • Your AI Coach uses your profile and conversation context to personalize match recommendations.
  • Face detection is used during photo upload to verify that profile photos contain a visible face. This processing happens on your device and no biometric data is stored or transmitted.

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information in these limited circumstances:

  • Other Users: Your profile information (name, age, photos, interests, and non-private fields) is visible to other users as part of the matching process. Only your age and location are privacy-gated; all other profile fields are always visible.
  • Service Providers: We use Firebase (Google Cloud) for authentication, database, storage, and cloud functions. Google Gemini processes AI matchmaking interactions. RevenueCat manages subscription entitlements; Apple handles all payment processing for in-app purchases. Beehiiv stores and delivers our email newsletter — if you sign up via our website, your email address is shared with Beehiiv for that purpose only.
  • Safety and Legal: We may disclose information if required by law, to protect safety, or to enforce our Terms of Service.
  • Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred.

6. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on Firebase (Google Cloud Platform) infrastructure with industry-standard security measures including:

  • Encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest
  • Firebase Security Rules restricting data access to authorized users
  • Firebase App Check to prevent unauthorized API access
  • Server-side validation of all sensitive operations

While we implement safeguards, no system is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

7. Data Retention

  • Active accounts: We retain your data for as long as your account is active.
  • Match candidates: Expired match candidates are automatically cleaned up after 48 hours.
  • Account deletion: When you delete your account, we delete your profile, photos, and associated data. Some data may persist in backups for up to 30 days.
  • Legal obligations: We may retain certain data as required by law.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access: Request a copy of your personal data.
  • Correction: Update or correct inaccurate information via your profile settings.
  • Deletion: Delete your account and associated data through the App's Settings screen.
  • Data Portability: Request your data in a portable format.
  • Opt-out: Manage notification preferences in the App's settings.

9. Children's Privacy

Datestiny is not intended for anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If we learn we have collected data from a child under 18, we will delete it promptly.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy in the App or via push notification. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
